The German Resistance Memorial Center is on Stauffenbergstraße 13-14, located at the historical site of the attempted coup on July 20, 1944in the former Army High Command headquarters. Since 1953, the commemorative courtyard has been a place of remembrance of the resistance against National Socialism.
The permanent exhibition “Resistance Against National Socialism” was set up on the second floor in 1989 and uses over 5,000 photos and documents – subdivided into 26 different topics – to record the entire social breadth and ideological diversity of the fight against the National Socialist dictatorship. Individual topics are addressed in more detail through changing special exhibitions as well as the diverse events and publications which are offered here. The German Resistance Memorial Center is a place of remembrance, of political educational work, of active learning, of documentation and research. The Center is meant to demonstrate how individual people and groups defended themselves against the National Socialist dictatorship and used the options for resistance available to them between 1933 and 1945.
